St Benedict's High School is a Roman Catholic High School in Linwood, Renfrewshire, in the west of Scotland.
St Benedict's High School was formed by the amalgamation of St Cuthbert's High School in Johnstone and St Brendan's High School in Linwood. St Benedict's High School serves the Linwood, Houston, Bridge of Weir, Johnstone, Elderslie, Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch area of Renfrewshire. The school has five associated primary schools - Our Lady of Peace, St. Anthony's, St. David's, St. Fillan's and St. Margaret's. The school roll is 738 pupils. The school's motto is "Ora et Labora" which means "Pray and Work".
The school building, was built by Carillion (who have been commissioned to build a number of schools in the area) from January 2005 to July 2006, over a period of 79 weeks, for Amey, who lease the building to Renfrewshire Council. Amey also provide the janitorial and cleaning staff. There is a car park,a parent drop off-area and an area for the school bus.The buses must circle the car park to get to the bus pick-up area. The school is laid out over two floors, with three main wings. The contents of the West wing include administration offices, learning support and the PE department on the ground floor, and the RE department, Oratory (chapel), and meeting rooms on the first floor. In the South wing, there are the Music, Social Subjects and Modern Languages departments on the ground floor, and the English and Maths departments on the first floor. This is also where the staff room and viewing gallery are located. This gallery looks out over the Street (see end of paragraph). The North wing houses the Technical, Art and Home Economics departments on the ground floor, as well as the S6 common room, and the Computing, Business Studies and Science departments on the first floor. The three main parts of the building are linked by a large, roughly rectangular social area, known as The Street, which houses the cafeteria, stage and main meeting area for pupils during breaks. The Street also features underfloor heating and vending machines.
